The 2019 NAPLAN exams are fast approaching and we want to make sure that ‘no plan’ is not your plan for NAPLAN.
The National Assessment program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment for all students in years 3, 5 ,7 and 9. It tests the type of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. The test covers skills in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, and numeracy. This year NAPLAN will be held on the 14thto the 16thMay.
NAPLAN is an important national assessment that will test your child’s literacy and numeracy skills in a standardised environment. They will sit four separate exams in reading/comprehension, writing, language conventions (grammar and punctuation) and numeracy (mathematics).
Your child’s results will be cumulated, and they will be placed in bands where they can compare their results against the rest of the state. In this way, students, teachers and parents can identify a child’s strengths and weaknesses and react accordingly. Teachers can look to challenge high performing children while targeting any outstanding weaknesses. NAPLAN also acts as a way of measuring academic improvement over the two years between each examination.
The NAPLAN exams are an important stepping stone throughout a child’s academic life. We understand that it can be difficult as a parent to navigate the preparation for these exams on top of other school work, extra curricular and social activities. We, at TutorTime, are here to help you!

We will also be holding NAPLAN workshops, where your child will be given a chance to sit timed practice exams with feedback, in our Double Bay Learning Centre. These workshops will be held on Saturday the 4th and Saturday the 11th of May. The timing schedule is as follows:

Year 5 – 9am
Year 7 – 10am
Year 9 – 11am
