COVID-19 Online Remote Learning Has Had Different Impacts On Children’s Learning

We have spent time engaging with our families and students to learn more about their experiences with remote learning due to COVID-19.
We learn’t that many senior school children, 75% of those questioned, would rather attend school than learn remotely, however in the beginning of the lockdown all the senior school students thought that home learning was fun…. but this quickly changed.
We found that depending on the school that the student attends and the area in which they live significantly impacted the results.
 We have learnt that-
Students attending public schools were more likely to receive a weekly plan delivered by email with supporting worksheets. There were very limited live classes where an educator was  and there were even fewer pre-recorded lessons.
Students attending private schools had daily lessons with the majority of the lessons being taught online live being lead by the child’s teacher. Private schools also held parent teacher meetings and kept the parents up to date with their children’s learning via email.
Students in rural areas had difficulty accessing any online support and even had difficulty.
